Pre-tryout Camp

On August 15, 17, 19, and 21, 2011 from 4:30pm - 6:00pm at Kittridge Fields (Soccer Fields and Rec Center Map) we will have a pre-tryout camp for anyone interested. This is NOT a tryout and NO players will be evaluated at this time. We will just be putting up some goals, splitting up teams, and playing. This is a good opportunity for players to come out, knock the ball around and get prepared for tryouts.

Pre-season Meeting (New & Current players please complete the following questionnaire for the Fall 2011 Season)

The University of Colorado Women's Club Soccer Program begins its tryouts with an important pre-tryout meeting on August 23rd, 2011 at 5:30pm in the CU Recreation Center Conference Rooms 3 and 4. During the meeting we will go over all the details about the club, collect information on all the players interested in trying out, assign tryout numbers, give out any last minute instructions, and answer any questions players may have. If you are unable to attend, but are still wanting to tryout, be sure to email (tryouts@cusoccer.net) and let us know, so we can get you the information you miss.

The Season

The season begins shortly after tryouts complete, from the first weekend in September, and goes until the middle of November. All games are played on weekends with a few weeknight games mixed in. All three teams will play about a 20 game schedule each, with travel out of state twice during the season for the Gold and Black Teams. In past years we have traveled to Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Texas, California, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia for competitions. The Region V opponents that we play are Colorado State (Gold & Green), Northern Colorado, Denver University, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado Mountain College, Western State, Adams State, Colorado College, Auraria, Johnson & Wales, Drake University, Nebraska-Lincoln, Iowa University, and Iowa State University. Games are also played out of the region against the likes of the University of Arizona, San Diego State, Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, Long Beach State, Kansas, Kansas State, Cal Berkeley, Texas A&M, Texas, Missouri, St. Louis, and many others. These will likely be opponents of ours again this season, or future seasons. We are always looking to improve our schedule year to year by playing more opponents nationwide. So if anyone is interested, please let us know.

Practices

Depending on which team you play for practice times will vary in 2011. Please visit the club calender here to get specifics: Club Calendar . It is important to know that attending practices is very important if we are to be successful, but within the club program we also understand the importance of schoolwork! So we are willing to work with you in regards to your class schedule, exams, etc... So if you have a demanding schedule or conflicts that you think may prevent you from playing club soccer, come talk to the coaching staff first, and see what we can do to work something out. A lot of players make the decision not to play based on too busy of a schedule before talking to us, and usually something is easily worked out if you come talk with us first.

Winter & Spring

Even though the CU Women's Club Soccer Program plays its season during the Fall, we have many playing opportunities for any interested players during the Winter and Spring as well. Our indoor season is played during the Winter months, and during the Spring, starting in the month of March, we go outdoors to Kittridge Fields located on the Kittridge Loop behind the Coors Events Center to play some pick up games (2011 Spring Kickarounds Schedule - COMING SOON). Any and all players are invited to participate either in the indoor or outdoor sessions. Just email dbarnes@cusoccer.net if you are interested.

Funding & Fees

The club soccer program is given a small budget from the University, but it will not cover all the necessary expenses to run all three teams. So, players are asked to fundraise money (Tshirt sales, DU Hockey games, CU Football games, Summer Camps, etc.) during the season in order to pay for travel, field fees, ref fees, etc... Once a player is selected to any of the club teams they will be asked to pay a participation fee of approx $400, and a REFUNDABLE equipment fee of $75 for the uniforms which will be returned after the season has ended and all the equipment has been returned. Please keep in mind enough fundraising will be provided to help offset 100% of your costs if you wish to participate in it. Unfortunately, scholarships are not available through the club soccer program, but if money is an issue, discuss it with us and again we will work with you .
